What is ACT TWO?ACT TWO is a non-profit organization dedicated to the belief that Performing Arts have the power to transform and inspire. A single theatre experience can be profound; it can change a life! The name is an acronym for Arts Can Transform through Willingness and Outreach. Our purpose is to make the Performing Arts available to segments of our society that do not have access to such experiences typically. Such segments include people with disabilities and individuals who are burdened with social or economic hardship.
ACT TWO is a network of people and organizations that share our belief and commitment. Three types of organizations are members of this network - professional theatres, school drama departments and service groups. ACT-TWO is also a philathropic model. It provides a procedural framework (a recipe) for how these three types of organizations can collaborate to bring the Performing Arts to the under-served segments of our society. The recipe is actually quite simple, which is to say that complexity isn't a prerequisite of meaningful accomplishment. The only prerequisite is caring. Who is ACT TWO?ACT-TWO was founded by Matthew Harvey in the Fall of 2011. At present, its cast is a collection of very dedicated theatre enthusiasts and professionals in Raleigh NC. In the future, we hope that ACT-TWO includes everyone, everywhere, who recognizes the transformational power of the Performing Arts and who believes that great things can be accomplished through simple acts.
